Western Europe Working Australian Shepherd Club - Board
I live on a small farm near Aschaffenburg, half an hour south-east of Frankfurt/Main, together with my husband Lorenz. We work on about 35 ha of grasland, breed cattle, sheep, ducks and dogs. Until the end of 2011 Lorenz did also train Westernhorses. We own Australian Shepherds since 1991. They work on the farm whenever help is needed. Since 2004 I am active in the WEWASC. We organize two to three ASCA trials each year on our farm. I think the work for that club is essentially important to improve and promote the working bred Aussie in Europe.
My friend, Roland and I live in Austria to be exact in the south of NÖ. Currently we have six Australian Shepherds and two poodles. Besides our sporting ambitions we have been based a small Australian Shepherd breeding in Austria. We work with our dogs in the areas, Agility, Herding and Obedience. You can find us on various Trials and Agility competitions in whole Europe at regular intervals. Besides our starts on all this competitions we visit regularly herding and agility seminars at home and abroad. We have already organized the first herding seminar and we will try to get further seminars on our place with well-known trainers
My name is Kay Pieper I live and work as a Veterinarian in the countryside near Cologne, Germany. Dogs are an important part of my live since I was a little boy. Working stock with my dogs gives me one of the most fascinating experiences of cooperation humans can have with animals.
I joined WEWASC a few weeks after its foundation and I am a member of this club because I feel it is very important to preserve (and always improve) the Australian Shepherd as a working dog. Currently, I have three Aussies named Moreen, Bailey and Maple and my breeder name is Black Forest Aussies (but I am not a breeder yet). Under “Black Forest Aussies” you will also find my webpage. Most of you have met me at one of the many trials I entered – or maybe I was the one putting the stock out for you at a trial, because I really like handling stock. In 2009 I organized my first trial, it was the second WEWASC-Farmtrial at “Mundelfingen on the Viehweide”. I think most of the competitors had a great time especially with the goats. Meanwhile I am also an active member of the Farmtrial committee. At home I help farmers bringing cattle from pasture to pasture or back to the barn with my dogs. I also have my own ducks. I visit herding clinics in USA, Switzerland or Germany. Sometimes I help beginners to start their dogs. Or help farmers with their dogs. My big concern is to promote the working Aussie program.
My wife Astrid and I are living in northern Germany near the city Braunschweig in a rural environment. In 2002 our first Aussie (Wynja) joined us. This decision was influenced by the intelligence, the working ability and the demands an Aussie request from its people. So it is no wonder that in 2003 Joycie, in 2006 Nike and in 2009 Yuna enriched our pack. First herding clinics in 2003 and 2004 and a clinic and trial with Wally Butler in 2005 took us to apply at least for WEWASC membership. Meanwhile own sheep allow us engage our dogs at home. We offer training with our ducks and sheep and organize clinics at our property. I would like to help giving the Aussie, even in European regions, the possibility to live and act in a natural way and to ensure that this disposition will not get lost.
